Understanding leadership – Part 8: Do you behave rationally?
Can our behaviour be "rational" at all? Do leaders assess employees on rational criteria? How objective are appraisal talks really?
Using the model "Human Behaviour in Social Systems" from organisation studies (cf. Hill/Fehlbaum/Ulrich 1994), we look at the complex processes shaping behaviour when interacting with others:
We are constantly in feedback loops of "self-fulfilling prophecies" and thus construct our world. Unconsciously we create the circumstances we assume in our environment, which repeatedly confirm our behavioural choices.
In my next post I show an example from the world of leaders.
