Understanding leadership – Part 18: Theories of human nature by McGregor

McGregor rightly assumes every leadership decision rests on assumptions about human nature and behaviour. He shaped two opposing assumptions that gained great importance in leadership debate. With opposing Theories X and Y he offers an easy description that is however strongly simplified:

Depending on the attitude with which you approach your staff, you construct your own leadership situations. I have pointed this out in previous posts. Next Friday I will address which organisational model requires which employees—and vice versa produces them.
